Injury Rehabilitation
Injury rehabilitation is a specialized field of medicine. Make sure your horse is in the care of properly trained professionals. Many years of medically based education is the only way to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe and effective treatment.

The key to the success of athletes is not simply in the way they train but in how well they recover from training.
How We Do It
Assessment
Our comprehensive and unique assessment strategies provide solutions to complex lameness, soundness and health issues.
The initial assessment takes approximately 1.5 hours and includes a medical case history, full body assessment, gait analysis, soundness evaluation, neurological examination, specific joint and tissue examinations and other tests that are relevant for your horse. When provided we review diagnostic imaging and other tests performed by your veterinarian.
When appropriate we may ask to watch your horse go undersaddle as well as check the fit of your equipment.
The use of videography and digital photos provides a solid baseline development both for reassessment as well as the ability to perform detailed breakdown of movement and biomechanical evaluations.
Through differential diagnosis and identification of primary vs. secondary injuries an individualized treatment plan is developed and implemented.
Treatment
We have an all encompassing integrative approach to assessment and treatment of each horse. Integration of osteopathy, orthopaedics, neurophysiatrics, sports therapies and physical rehabilitation provides the most effective treatment resulting in optimal recovery from injury and peak performance for competition.
Hydrotherapy treatments including but not limited to affusions, water tredding, packs, wraps, steams, thermal applications, immersions, cryotherapy, as well as actinotherapy (UV and infrared) are incorporated into your horses rehabilitation. These are hands-on applications by trained staff and supervised by the therapist to ensure your horse receives the most effective treatment specific to his individual tissue response and physical needs.
Therapeutic and Rehabilitative exercise programs are individually designed for each horse specific to their injuries as well as their fitness, conditioning and training level. Each exercise session is monitored by the therapist to ensure the horse is progressing correctly and to make adjustments to the exercises when needed. We have a variety of riders available depending on your horse’s needs.
We receive referrals for neurological dysfunctions, spinal injuries, head traumas, visceral damage, soft tissue injuries, fractures, joint dysfunctions, and complex lameness.

How To Access Our Services

The Rehab Centre
Full service care and treatment for your horse while he is admitted to The Rehab Centre. Inpatient and outpatient services available.
Outcalls to your stable
Farm calls are available locally and abroad. Contact us to enquire about your region.
Onsite at competitions
We will be onsite at select competitions throughout the year. For your horse’s optimal performance and to submit a request your competitions are added to our schedule please contact us. If you see us at a show come say hi.
Ship-ins
We offer the option of shipping in to our facility for evaluations and treatment.
Consultations
Consultations are available to horse owners, trainers, veterinarians, farriers, and other health care practitioners. They are offered in person, by phone, email, video, or live web streaming.
Education
Education opportunities are available to the equine community and industry professionals, Veterinarians, and Licensed Health Care Practitioners. We offer in person and online learning with clinics, courses, webinars, internships and other resources.
